In Grodzisk Mazowiecki, three individuals were detained after police uncovered a scheme that stole money and jewelry from senior residents in the town and nearby Piaseczno.
Investigative Operation
Police in Grodzisk Mazowiecki conducted intensive investigations over several days, focusing on fraud cases that targeted elderly residents. Once a suspect was identified, the search extended to Łódź, where a 55‑year‑old man was apprehended.
During a search of his apartment, investigators seized items that could be used to contact victims and partners, along with clothes that had been used to take a package slipped through a window by a Grodzisk resident.
Broader Arrests
Further analysis revealed that the same 55‑year‑old also participated in a similar scam the following day that affected a 91‑year‑old resident of Piaseczno. Police also identified a 38‑year‑old man and a 41‑year‑old woman as accomplices.
The trio was arrested at a service station in the Płońsk county, where officers surprised the suspects.
Legal Proceedings
At the district prosecutor’s office, each suspect faced two criminal charges. The 55‑year‑old and the 38‑year‑old were expected to testify under recidivist conditions.
On the prosecutor’s request, the court imposed a three‑month temporary pre‑trial detention on all three suspects.
Ongoing Investigation
Police continued to examine other fraud incidents and assess whether the trio’s involvement extends to those cases.
Public Warning
Grodzisk police cautioned citizens against trusting any telephone caller who claims to be a police officer or employee of another institution, especially if the call involves requests for money from home or bank accounts. They affirmed that no officers ask for money or for seniors to participate in arrests.
