The Siedlce District Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred on April 13, 2026, on the railway tracks near a railway viaduct in Siedlce.
Police were dispatched to the tracks in the afternoon following reports of a man being struck by a train. Officers found the injured 21-year-old resident of Siedlce under one of the cars of a train traveling from Warsaw West to Siedlce. He sustained severe injuries.
Medical Attention and Transport

Preliminary Findings of the Investigation
According to prosecutor Bartłomiej Świderski of the Siedlce District Prosecutor’s Office, preliminary findings suggest the man lay across the tracks approximately 100 meters from the approaching train for reasons currently unknown.
Despite signals and emergency braking by the train operator, the man was struck by the train.
Two Lines of Inquiry

Prosecutor Świderski stated that procedural activities are underway to determine the cause and exact sequence of events, under the supervision of the Siedlce District Prosecutor’s Office.
Ongoing Investigation and Unclear Motives
Investigators are not currently releasing information about the definitive cause of the incident. Determining why the 21-year-old was on the tracks immediately before the train’s arrival and establishing the precise sequence of events are key priorities.
