A truck collided with barriers on the S8 expressway near Konotopa viaduct around 11:30 AM, completely blocking traffic toward the airport.
Truck Hits Barriers, Driver Trapped
A truck struck energy-absorbing barriers on the Konotopa viaduct, at the exit from the S8 to the S2 expressway, according to Fire Department Captain Damian Dolniak.
The truck blocked the roadway, and the cause of the accident is currently unknown.
Driver Extricated, Not Critically Injured
Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle. Initial reports indicate the driver’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Significant Traffic Disruptions Expected
Traffic heading towards the airport is completely blocked, Captain Dolniak stated after 12:00 PM. The General Directorate for National Roads and Highways anticipates disruptions will last until approximately 2:00 PM.
Police Urge Drivers to Seek Alternate Routes
Police Senior Sergeant Martyna Podolska advised drivers to avoid the area and use alternative routes, as reported to Gazeta.pl.
