Trump Skeptical of Iran Proposal, Threatens Further Attacks

U.S. President Donald Trump and his national security team are wary of Iran’s offer to de-escalate tensions, involving opening the Strait of Hormuz and delaying nuclear talks.

Iran Presents Peace Proposal to U.S.

Iran has presented a new peace proposal to the United States, focusing on resolving the crisis surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and the American naval blockade. The offer proposes a long-term ceasefire or a permanent end to the conflict.

Under the proposal, nuclear negotiations would begin at a later stage, following the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the maritime blockade.

Trump’s Response and Concerns

President Trump has expressed skepticism towards the Iranian proposal, indicating that Tehran is not negotiating in good faith and is unwilling to meet his primary demand of ending Iran’s enrichment program and abandoning its pursuit of nuclear weapons.

Trump reportedly threatened a return to attacks on Iran if negotiations to end the conflict fail to yield results, though his administration believes he wants to avoid resuming military action.

Diplomatic Efforts and International Involvement

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Russia on Monday, April 27th, to discuss ending the conflict with the U.S. and Israel with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Discussions included the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.

Putin stated Russia would do everything to serve the interests of all nations in the region to achieve peace as quickly as possible, according to Russian state media.

White House Statement

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly stated that the United States will not negotiate through the media and that any information not announced by President Trump or the White House should be considered speculation.
