Turkish Mafioso Arrested in Central Warsaw

A 43‑year‑old gangster from Istanbul’s mafia, wanted by Interpol, was arrested by Warsaw police outside a Żurawia street restaurant after a coordinated operation with the Turkish anti‑corruption office.

Interpol Red Notice

The suspect was operating under an Interpol Red Notice as a dangerous person, sought for murder, kidnapping and armed attacks. He had been evading Turkish prosecution for years.

Police Operation

Capital police, aided by a dedicated counter‑terror unit, detained him in front of a restaurant on Żurawia street. Security measures were heightened due to the risk of armed escape, and officers found a firearm with a loaded cartridge and 26 rounds of ammunition on him.

Arrest and Charges

Having arrived from Western Europe just over a fortnight earlier, the man faced charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. He was temporarily remanded for three months.

Legal Proceedings

The case is under monitoring by the Warsaw Śródmieście district prosecutor’s office. The defendant remains in custody pending further investigation.
