Tusk to Submit Cryptocurrency Regulation Project to Parliament This Week

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced a draft law targeting cryptocurrency schemes will be sent to the Sejm this week, calling it the “biggest scandal in decades.”

Prime Minister Accuses Former and Current Presidents of Involvement

Prime Minister Tusk stated the scandal involves both former and current presidents, as well as right-wing opposition parties. He urged President Karol Nawrocki and the opposition to collaborate with the government to prevent future criminal activity.

Tusk expressed hope for a change of heart, emphasizing the need to block the operations of this “gangsterism.”

Increased Penalties Proposed

The proposed regulations, while not a complete solution, will provide the Polish state with tools to act before law enforcement and special services intervene, according to the Prime Minister.

These tools will allow for public warnings to potential investors, and the project will be fast-tracked through parliament.

Single Amendment: Stricter Punishments

The only change to the draft law will be a further increase in penalties for those who exploit people’s dreams, naiveté, or lack of knowledge to defraud them and endanger Poland’s security and financial system.
