Two Men Found at Nursery Construction Site; One Dead, One in Critical Condition

Two men were found unconscious at a nursery construction in Ostrołęka; one died, the other hospitalized in critical condition.

Investigation Underway

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrołęka is conducting proceedings following an incident at a municipal nursery construction on Mazowiecka Street on January 17, 2026. 68-year-old Marek F. died, while 67-year-old Andrzej Ł. remains hospitalized in serious condition.

What Happened

The men were supervising plaster drying work inside the building when they were found unconscious. After 3 PM, Mariusz B. discovered them lying on the floor in a corridor. Emergency services confirmed Marek F.’s death and transported Andrzej Ł. to hospital.

Possible Cause

Prosecutors preliminarily excluded third-party involvement in the incident. They secured two gasoline-powered generators and suspect carbon monoxide poisoning as a possible cause of death. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause.

Current Status

The investigation continues under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office. Andrzej Ł. remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Ostrołęka Hospital. Police are working to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
