Two Trams, Bus Collide in Warsaw Center; Dozens Injured

A severe collision involving a bus on line 160 and two trams on route W‑Z on Solidarność Avenue in Warsaw’s city centre has left dozens injured and halted traffic to Wola.

Crash Details

At the intersection of Solidarność Avenue and Bielańska Street in central Warsaw, tram 4 collided with the rear of bus 160, which then struck a tram crossing the technical track. The accident caused severe damage to all three vehicles.

Emergency Response

Approximately fifteen medical teams, several fire station units, police, and traffic control teams were dispatched. Firefighters secured the site; police examined the vehicles and documented damages while medical crews treated the injured on scene.

Traffic Disruption

Road and rail traffic toward Wola is completely stopped. Trains and buses approaching from the city centre must reverse or take detours assigned in real time by authorities. Passengers are experiencing significant delays.

Investigation Measures

All drivers and crew received on‑site medical care. Police will test sobriety, capture and preserve surveillance footage from the vehicles and nearby city cameras, and reconstruct the crash to determine speeds, driving patterns, and any traffic rule violations.

Tram Service Adjustments

Due to a blocked crossing near Rondo Starzyński and Bank Square, tram lines 1, 4, 6, 13, 18, 20, 23, 26 are rerouted via Jagiellonia – Ratuszowa – Targowa – Zieleniecka Avenue – Poniatowski Bridge – Jerozolimskie Avenue. Lines 13, 20, 23, and 26 heading toward Cmentarz Wolski/Boernerowo/Nowe Bemowo/Metro Młociny are also detoured along the closest available routes.
