Two-day peace talks between Ukraine, Russia, and USA will begin in Abu Dhabi on January 23, with Zelensky emphasizing the “key issue” of Donbas.
Peace Talks Focus on Donbas
On Friday, January 23, two-day peace talks between Ukraine, Russia, and USA will begin in Abu Dhabi. Volodymyr Zelenski spoke to journalists about the meeting, stating that “The issue of Donbas is key. The way this issue is perceived by the three sides will be discussed,” as quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
USA Representation
During the talks in Abu Dhabi, the United States will be represented by special envoy of Donald Trump Steve Witkoff and son-in-law of the US president Jared Kushner. Witkoff and Kushner recently traveled to the United Arab Emirates for talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
Russian and Ukrainian Delegations
Head of the Russian delegation in Abu Dhabi will be the head of military intelligence GRU Igor Kostiukov. Its composition will also include representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Ukraine will be represented by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerow, Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov, his deputy Serhii Kyslytsia, Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov, and David Arakhamia, chairman of the parliamentary faction of the Servant of the People party, founded by Zelensky.
