Ukrainian-made drones, dubbed “Ptaki Madiara” (Madiar Birds), reportedly struck a military airfield in Chelyabinsk, Russia, damaging fighter jets.

The “Ptaki Madiara” (Madiar Birds) of Ukraine’s 1st Self-Reliant Center of Unmanned Systems Systems reportedly carried out an attack on the Shagol airbase in Chelyabinsk, Russia, on April 25, 2024.
According to reports, two Su-57 fighter jets, one Su-34, and another Su aircraft of an unspecified modification were hit.
Cost of Damaged Aircraft
The group stated that a Su-34 costs between $35 and $50 million, while a Su-57 costs approximately $100-120 million.
Strategic Importance of the Strikes
Browdi, a representative of “Ptaki Madiara,” stated that targeting Su-34 fighter-bombers and Su-57 fifth-generation fighters is crucial for reducing the enemy’s strike potential.
Russian Drone Attack on Ukraine
Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using 409 drones. 388 were reportedly neutralized, with impacts recorded in 16 locations and debris falling in 11.
Ternopil Attack and Casualties
Around 50 Russian drones attacked Ternopil, targeting infrastructure and industrial facilities, resulting in at least ten injuries, according to Mayor Serhiy Nadal.
City officials reported ten people were injured, including some in serious condition, and are receiving medical attention. No fatalities have been reported.
Shahed Drone Type and Damage
Mayor Nadal stated that over 50 Shahed-type drones were used in the attack on Ternopil, with over 20 explosions reported. Impacts were recorded on infrastructure and industrial facilities.
Power outages were reported in parts of the city, and residents were warned to avoid touching potentially dangerous debris. Parents were urged to prevent children from handling any found objects.
Additional Injuries in Rivne Oblast
Oleksandr Koval, head of the Rivne Oblast Military Administration, reported five injuries, with four individuals hospitalized.
