Up to 700 PLN for Pensioner Eyewear in 2026: A Guide to the Subsidy

In 2026, Polish pensioners can receive up to 700 PLN in subsidies from the National Health Fund (NFZ) for corrective lenses, provided they strictly follow established clinical and procedural requirements.

Subsidies for Corrective Lenses

Pensioners in 2026 are eligible for financial support when purchasing corrective lenses, with the maximum subsidy currently set at 700 PLN per pair. This amount is derived from a limit of 350 PLN per individual lens. It is critical to note that the NFZ covers only the cost of the lenses themselves, requiring a patient contribution; the cost of spectacle frames must be covered entirely by the patient.

Clinical Eligibility and Funding Limits

The total subsidy amount is directly dependent on the severity of the patient’s vision impairment. Pensioners and other insured adults requiring corrections of +/- 10.00 diopters or more are eligible for the full 700 PLN support. For smaller vision defects, the NFZ covers a percentage of the assigned price limit, ranging from 70% to 90% depending on the specific lens type and diopter range.

Application Procedure

Securing the subsidy requires following a precise sequence of steps. Patients must obtain the necessary medical documentation before purchasing the eyewear, as retroactive claims for reimbursement after a purchase has been completed are not permitted.
