US Ambassador Responds from Private Account; Post Quickly Deleted

US Ambassador Tom Rose sparked diplomatic tensions with Poland after announcing the suspension of ties with Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty over criticism of President Trump.

Rising Tensions in Polish-American Diplomatic Relations

On Thursday, February 5, Tom Rose announced on X that the US side would “no longer maintain contact or communicate with Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty.” He added the decision was due to “outrageous and baseless insults towards President Trump.” This is a reaction to the Polish politician’s decision not to support awarding Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize.

In response to the ambassador’s announcement, Czarzasty emphasized that while he “unwaveringly respects the US as a key partner for Poland,” his position remains unchanged.

Ambassador’s Private Account Remarks

One X user shared Ambassador USA’s response to a post by Donald Tusk, adding their own comment: “God protect us from such friends. We’ll handle enemies ourselves. Poland never ‘held back a bit’ (a reference to Trump’s words – ed.) and will never accept American dictatorship. The Polish nation respects its sovereignty. Go home.”

“Should we take all our soldiers and equipment with us?” – Rose responded from his private profile. When asked by media if this was the official US Embassy position, the comment was quickly deleted.

Rose also responded from his private account to American political scientist Ian Bremmer (known for criticizing Trump’s policies) when Bremmer gave the ambassador language advice (“Whose, not who’s. When addressing the prime minister, I assume you want to do it right”). “Thanks for that, genius,” retorted Rose. This comment was also deleted.

US Media Coverage of the Conflict

The conflict sparked by US Ambassador in Warsaw’s announcement to cut ties with Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty is widely reported in the United States. It was covered by both agency reports and press publications.

“The MAGA ambassador rages at ally for dismissing Trump’s fantasy about Nobel Prize,” wrote The Daily Beast, adding that right-wing President Karol Nawrocki criticized Czarzasty for his actions, while Prime Minister Tusk defended him, noting that allies should respect each other.

“The Polish prime minister criticized the US ambassador in Poland, Tom Rose, for stating that the chairman of the Polish parliament, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, would be blacklisted due to his opposition to nominating President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize,” reported The Hill, reminding that Trump had been criticized in Europe for downplaying the role of NATO soldiers in Afghanistan.

The prestigious Washington Post and all major press agencies – AP, Reuters, and Bloomberg – also published extensive articles on the conflict in Poland, whose dispatches were then carried by media across the United States.
