US Ambassador Thomas Rose Criticizes EU Omnibus, Calls for Poland Leadership

U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Thomas Rose, slammed the European Union’s Omnibus proposal as a blow to job creation and innovation, urging Poland to lead a continental push against the legislation.

Criticism of the EU Omnibus

Thomas Rose said the EU package, aimed at simplifying sustainable development rules for firms within the Union, would stifle jobs, dampen innovation, and force U.S. companies to leave Europe. He warned the law would impose unprecedented reporting burdens and give Brussels greater control over supply chains and investment decisions.

Trump Observes the Situation

Rose added that President Trump is closely monitoring the developments. He described the EU proposal as a “troubadour blow” to economic growth that could destroy capital investment and drive American firms out of the European market.

Poland as an Opportunity for European Leadership

The ambassador urged Poland to take a leading role in opposing the Omnibus, stating that the country could stand shoulder to shoulder with President Trump to defend growth, competitiveness and sensible policy. He called for a decisive public campaign against the legislation.

Potential Impact on U.S.-Polish Relations

Rose argued that Poland’s firm stance could forge a continental coalition for economic prudence, strengthening U.S.-Polish ties. He said no one would be more invested in their consolidation than President Trump, and that Poland had a chance to safeguard jobs, innovation and economic freedom in both Europe and the United States.
