A serious collision between a police van and a Lexus at a Warsaw intersection on Puławska Street injured two officers on Tuesday afternoon.
Collision Details
At 3:38 PM, a police van from the OPP (Preventive Police Units) collided with a Lexus passenger car at the intersection of Puławska and Kuropatwy streets in Warsaw’s Ursynów district. Two police officers were injured and transported to a hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate the police Mercedes Sprinter was traveling with lights and sirens activated. The van entered the intersection on a red light, resulting in the collision with the Lexus.
Vehicle Movements
The Lexus was traveling straight on Kuropatwy Street from Katarynki Street when the police van struck its side, causing significant damage.
Traffic Disruption and Investigation
Emergency services are at the scene. Significant traffic disruptions are reported, with two lanes towards the city center blocked.
Sobriety Tests
Both drivers underwent alcohol testing. Results indicate that neither the police van driver nor the Lexus driver were under the influence of alcohol.
Consequences of the Incident
The most immediate consequences are the injuries to the police officers and traffic congestion on a major route in and out of southern Warsaw.
