Warsaw Railway Workers Plan New Underground Tunnel to Handle Growing Traffic

Warsaw railway workers propose a new underground tunnel to handle increasing train traffic on existing tracks.

Unfulfilled Modernization

Despite years of promises, railway workers have yet to complete the modernization of Warsaw’s diameter line. Now, they are presenting even more ambitious plans.

Current Infrastructure Challenges

The existing four tracks between Warsaw Zachodnia and Warsaw Wschodnia stations—two for long-distance and two for regional trains—are no longer sufficient to handle the constantly growing train traffic.

Proposed Solution

A decision has been made to construct an additional tunnel in Warsaw’s city center, specifically designed with two tracks for long-distance trains to alleviate congestion.
