A Warsaw high school was shot at on March 11; police later detained a 43-year-old man in whose apartment they found an air gun.
Incident Details
In the morning of Wednesday, March 11, an unknown perpetrator or perpetrators shot at what appears to be an air gun at the Liceum Ogólnokształcące Społecznego Nr 17 on Marszałkowska Street in Warsaw. No one was injured.
The incident was reported to authorities around 10 AM by school employees.
Police Response
Police announced in the evening that they had detained a suspect in connection with the shooting. The 43-year-old man was apprehended in an apartment on Gagarin Street in Warsaw’s Mokotow district.
The arrest was carried out by officers from Śródmieście with the support of police from the Metropolitan Police Headquarters.
Search Results
During a search of the apartment, police found a pneumatic pistol (so-called air gun) and metal pellets used as ammunition.
The 43-year-old suspect is currently at the police station in Śródmieście, where officers are conducting further proceedings in the case.
School Background
Liceum Ogólnokształcące Społeczne nr 17 is located at ul. Marszałkowska 34/50 in Warsaw, in a 1950s building between Constitution Square and Savior Square.
The private school operates in a space of about 600 square meters and has been functioning since 2021.
