Warsaw Schools Evacuated After Bomb Threats

Schools, kindergartens, and nurseries in Warsaw were evacuated this morning following reports of bomb threats received via email.

Threats Trigger Evacuations

Emergency services have been responding to numerous educational institutions across Warsaw after receiving emails claiming explosive devices had been planted. Some school administrations opted to evacuate students and staff and initiate security protocols.

Pytrotechnic teams are conducting checks at the locations. Several facilities have requested parents pick up their children, as the duration of the emergency response remains uncertain. Authorities have not yet confirmed any actual threats in the inspected buildings.

Recurring Incident

This is not the first time Warsaw schools have received such threats. Similar waves of emails reporting false bomb alerts have previously targeted educational institutions in the capital.

Standard Procedures Followed

According to established procedures, any report of a potential explosive device must be taken seriously, regardless of initial credibility assessments. This necessitates securing the location, inspecting the premises, and deciding whether to evacuate.

Legal Consequences

False alarm reports carry criminal penalties. Article 224a of the Penal Code stipulates a sentence of 6 months to 8 years imprisonment for a basic offense, and 2 to 15 years for multiple reports. In early March, the Warsaw Police announced they were searching for an 18-year-old suspected of involvement in a criminal group and initiating widespread false alarms.
