Frost Warning for Saturday Night

The upcoming night across most of the country is expected to be clear but very cold. Due to a forecast drop in air temperature to approximately 2°C, and locally 0°C (ground level down to minus 2°C, locally to minus 4°C), IMGW has issued a first-degree meteorological warning for ground frost.

The warning will be valid from Saturday, 11 PM until Sunday, 7 AM, affecting the Pomeranian, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Masovian, and parts of the West Pomeranian, Greater Poland, Łódź, Warmian-Masurian, Lublin, and Lower Silesian voivodeships. Additionally, short-lived fog or dense mist is possible in the northern part of the country in the morning. Rain is possible in the far northeast. At night, the wind will be light and variable across most of the country.

Sunday Forecast: Warmer But Varied

According to Makarewicz, Sunday promises to be more pleasant than Saturday as warmer air begins to flow in, particularly noticeable in western and southwestern Poland. However, it will be coldest at 11°C in northeastern Poland, specifically the Suwałki region, which is also expected to have the greatest cloud cover.

By the sea, thermometers will show 12°C to 15°C, in the east 14°C to 16°C, and in the rest of the area 18°C to 20°C. The IMGW forecaster added, “Quite a pleasant temperature, especially since the wind will be light, so the felt temperature may even be higher than what thermometers show.”

Generally, it will be clear, except for the eastern and northeastern fringes where light rain is still possible. The wind in the northeast will be northwesterly, while in the rest of the area it will be southeasterly and southerly.

Dynamic Start to the Week on Monday

The night from Sunday to Monday will be somewhat warmer across the entire country due to an incoming warm air mass. Only in the southern part of the country, in the morning, are small, transient rainfalls expected. It will be coldest in the Suwałki region, around 2°C, with ground temperatures potentially dropping to about minus 1°C.

By the sea, temperatures will reach 8°C, in eastern Poland from 4°C to 6°C, while in most of the area, temperatures will range from 6°C to 8°C, warming up to 10°C in the afternoon. The wind will be light southeasterly.

Przemysław Makarewicz also announced that very dynamic weather can be expected on Monday, caused by a low-pressure system moving over Poland. Most of the country will be warm with temperatures from 19°C to 23°C, while in the western fringes, cooler air up to 16°C should be expected. By the sea, thermometers will show up to 13°C.

Scattered rain, thunderstorms, and during these thunderstorms, heavy rainfall (locally up to about 20-25 mm), are also expected across the country. Strong wind gusts, locally up to 80 km/h, are also forecast during the storms. “After a rather calm weekend, we will enter the new week with very dynamic weather, a breakdown in weather, but also with quite heavy rainfall. Given the current hydrological situation, this is good news,” the forecaster told PAP.
