Zelensky to EU Parliament: Europe Must Stand with Ukraine

Ukrainian president warns of persistent Russian threats during address marking four years of war in Strasbourg.

Russia’s Unrelenting Threat

President Zelenski stated that Russian aggression has not diminished, as Putin consistently chooses military force. “Putin does not accept that others want to live differently,” he remarked, citing Russia’s actions in Chechnya, Georgia, Syria, and support for Iran. “Russia can accept any number of victims,” he emphasized.

No Security Guarantees

Ukraine lacks firm security guarantees, Zelenski declared. He stressed the need for transatlantic unity and continued financial support, highlighting €90 billion in aid over two years as a concrete security measure. “We must prevent Russia from expanding its aggression to other European countries,” he added.

Clear EU Membership Date

A clear EU accession date is vital to Ukraine’s diplomatic strategy, Zelenski argued, calling it a “real element of strategy against Russia.” He warned that Moscow would attempt to divide and weaken the European Union through this process.

Standing Ovation

Zelenski thanked European nations for defense aid and coalition support, declaring, “We cannot let Putin win.” His remarks drew a prolonged standing ovation in the European Parliament, with no immediate response from Moscow.
