Ziobro Hits Back: Complaint Lodged After Document Disclosure

Polish Law Minister Zbigniew Ziobro has filed a formal complaint against prosecutors after a leaked document revealed allegations of a criminal investigation into his actions, according to PiS MPs.

Lawmakers File Complaint

MPs from PiS, Zbigniew Ziobro and Marcin Warchoł, filed a complaint on behalf of the party, alleging that the Minister of Justice, Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek, and his staff committed a crime by publicly disseminating the full content of a request to lift Ziobro’s immunity. The request was submitted to the Sejm, and its contents were disclosed two days later by TVN24.

Alleged Illicit Disclosure

According to the complaint, disseminating the request to media for public release constitutes a crime under Article 241(1) of the criminal code, as the request contains protected information from a preliminary investigation. The prosecutors allegedly provided the request to the media without consent required by Article 12(2) of the Prosecution Act.

General Prosecutor’s Immunity Request

Last week, Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek sent a petition to the Marshal of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, requesting the removal of Ziobro’s parliamentary immunity and his temporary arrest. The petition is tied to an investigation into alleged misuse of funds from the Justice Fund, an inquiry in which the prosecutors say Ziobro, as Minister of Justice, committed 26 crimes, including leading a criminal gang.

Details of the Petition Released

On Thursday, TVN24 published a 159‑page copy of the petition. Ziobro has rejected the accusations, calling them fabricated, and demands that the prosecution cease its actions against him.

Ziobro’s Response

In a statement on X, Ziobro condemned the leak as a breach of parliamentary procedure that harms the public interest and labeled it a crime punishable by the state.
