ZUS Energy Allowance: 336 PLN Monthly Benefit for 2026

Starting March 1, 2026, eligible pensioners and retirees in Poland can receive a monthly energy allowance of 336.16 PLN from the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), regardless of their total personal income.

Understanding the Energy Lump Sum

Rising electricity and heating costs are a significant burden on senior household budgets. Many retirees remain unaware that they may be entitled to a special energy subsidy paid by ZUS. Following the March 2026 indexation, this benefit has reached 336.16 PLN per month.

The energy lump sum is a cash benefit governed by the Combatants Act of January 24, 1991. It is designed to cover household expenses related to electricity, gas, and thermal energy.

Eligibility and Benefit Amounts

As of March 1, 2026, the allowance is set at 336.16 PLN monthly. The amount is adjusted annually based on an indexation rate, which this year stands at 5.3%. This payment is tax-exempt and not income-dependent, meaning it is available to seniors regardless of their financial status.

The exact amount is announced annually by the Head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression by February 7 in the Monitor Polski official gazette.

Application Process and Requirements

To claim the benefit, applicants must submit the ZUS-ERK form to any ZUS branch or send it via post. Supporting documentation proving eligibility must be attached to the application.

There is no specific deadline for submitting these documents; applications can be filed at any time. ZUS typically processes requests within 30 days, with payments beginning the month following approval.

Payment Disbursement Details

The energy allowance is paid alongside the monthly pension or disability benefit, either via bank transfer or in cash. The funds are provided directly to the beneficiary, who retains control over how the money is spent.

If a first-time application is submitted by someone who was already eligible in previous months, ZUS may provide a retroactive payment to cover that period.
