Polish police seized over 2,700 packs of unmarked cigarettes and 43 kg of tobacco from a 41-year-old Armenian man.
Initial Raid in Ząbki
Police from the Warsaw Economic Crime Division acted on a tip about an Armenian citizen possessing unmarked cigarettes. They searched his residence in Ząbki, finding 1,350 packs of cigarettes, 30 kg of tobacco, and 430 single cigarettes.
Additional Discoveries
Officers also found a cigarette packaging machine, printing equipment for a well-known brand, and cigarette filters. Further investigation revealed another car owned by the man, parked in Warsaw, containing 1,170 more packs of cigarettes and 13 kg of tobacco.
Total Seizure and Financial Loss
The total seizure amounted to 2,700 packs of cigarettes and 43 kg of tobacco, causing a state revenue loss of 120,000 złoty in unpaid excise and VAT.
Legal Consequences
The 41-year-old Armenian citizen faces charges of excise fraud and tax evasion. He voluntarily accepted a 12,000 złoty fine and forfeiture of his property.
