PiS lawmakers are reportedly pressuring Zbigniew Ziobro to accept arrest, a move the party hopes will turn him into a martyr narrative, officials say.
PiS Politicians Seek Ziobro’s Voluntary Arrest
Senator Krzysztof Kwiatkowski told Rzeczpospolita that members of Law and Justice may coerce Zbigniew Ziobro into surrendering to arrest, hoping to cast him as a martyr of the regime. He added that Ziobro opposes such a move, citing his objection to the current Hungarian government’s policies.
Planned Brussels Hospital Exam
According to Super Express, Ziobro is scheduled to visit a Brussels hospital on November 12 for further tests and bloodwork re‑evaluation. His associate notes that he is experiencing slight weight loss, a concern for his health.
Committee to Consider Immunity Stripping
The Regulations, Parliamentary Affairs and Immunity Committee will examine the prosecutor’s request on November 6 to lift Ziobro’s immunity and facilitate his temporary detention. The decision, expected near midnight, follows allegations of 26 offences linked to irregularities in the Justice Fund.
Additional Context in PiS Press
Further details on Ziobro’s situation appear in a piece by Marta Rawicz, describing previous attempts to prosecute him and the resulting compromises.
