Ziobro Accuses Tusk of Revenge; Parliament Set to Vote on Immunity

In Budapest, Justice Minister Ziobro said Donald Tusk seeks revenge, and the case has entered a new phase with a petition to lift his immunity and a possible temporary arrest.

Zbigniew Ziobro Accuses Donald Tusk of Revenge

Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro told a press conference in Budapest that former Prime Minister Donald Tusk is pursuing revenge. He claimed that, as a former prosecutor and minister, he had overseen numerous investigations involving Tusk’s party members, and now the former leader targets him.

Parliament to Examine Petition to Lift Ziobro’s Immunity

The Sejm’s Rules Committee will review the prosecutor’s requests on Thursday, aiming to obtain parliamentary approval to strip Ziobro of his parliamentary immunity, detain him, and place him under temporary arrest. A final decision is scheduled for Friday’s plenary session.

Filing to Lift Immunity and Allow Temporary Arrest

In October, Chief Prosecutor Waldemar Żurek sent a request to Marshal Szymon Hołownia asking for immunity to be revoked and for Ziobro’s detention and temporary arrest. The case involves alleged misuse of Justice Fund money, with investigators claiming Ziobro committed 26 offences, including directing a criminal group.

Next Steps and Possible Arrest

If the Sejm grants the prosecutor’s request, Ziobro will face the charges formally, and the court will decide whether he enters custody. The outcome depends on the parliamentary vote and subsequent judicial review.
