Court Acquits Former MP Władysław Frasyniuk Over Alleged Insult of Border Guards

On 6 November, the Wrocław District Court cleared former parliamentarian Władysław Frasyniuk of charges that he insulted border guard officers, overturning a previous 15,000‑zł fine.

Acquittal in Wrocław Court

The Wrocław District Court dismissed the case involving former MP Władysław Frasyniuk, who had previously been accused of insulting border guard officers. The court annulled the earlier 15,000‑zł fine imposed for violating officers’ dignity.

Background of the Case

In August 2021, during a TVN24 interview, Frasyniuk made remarks describing Polish border guard soldiers as “trash” and “the gang of dogs,” accusing them of unpatriotic behavior. The comments were reported to authorities and led to the initiation of legal proceedings.

Earlier Conviction and Appeal

In 2022, the first instance court found Frasyniuk guilty of insulting officers and ordered the 15,000‑zł fine, but the sentence was suspended. The case was later referred to the higher court for a retrial.

Judge’s Rationale for Acquittal

Judge Piotr Górecki explained that the court could not find sufficient grounds to prosecute Frasyniuk for contempt of officers while they were on duty. He clarified that terms like “trash” and “gang of dogs” were pejorative and humiliating, but did not constitute a criminal offence under the specific circumstances.
