The Tatra National Park reported that two scientific sensors disappeared from hiking trails in Zakopane’s Tatra Mountains, prompting an appeal for their return.
Sensors Vanish from Tatra Trails
Two scientific sensors have gone missing from hiking trails in the Tatra Mountains, according to Tatra National Park, which issued a public appeal for their return.
Missing Devices from Two Mountain Sections
The lost devices were stationed along the Trzydniowiański Wierch‑Kończysty Wierch and Kobylarzowy Żleb‑Małołączniak routes and were part of a study by researchers at AGH Kraków monitoring tourist movement.
Park Acknowledges Possible Accidental Removal
The park does not rule out that the devices were taken by mistake, noting that each missing sensor also represents lost data essential for the ongoing research. Photos of the mounts and modules have been released to aid identification.
Return Instructions for Found Sensors
Individuals who find the sensors should contact the park and can return them at TPN’s Zakopane Tourist Information Centre on Chałubińskiego 44, the Tatra Planet Earth Archive at the Kościeliska Valley exit, the TPN Directorate (Kuźnice 1), or via email at dbn@tpn.pl.
