Poland summoned Iran’s ambassador to express deep concern over escalating violence against protesters.
Iranian Ambassador Summoned
Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Poland Eisa Kameli was summoned on Thursday, January 15, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The reason was the situations occurring during protests that have been ongoing for over two weeks.
“In the position conveyed to the ambassador, deep concern was expressed regarding the reaction of Iranian authorities to recent events, especially the growing number of victims and detainees” – wrote the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Foreign Ministry Appeals to Iran
“Due to its own historical experiences, Poland is certain that violence against manifestations of freedom of speech, association or peaceful demonstrations is unacceptable and is not an effective means of achieving political goals. Recognizing the value of special, historical Polish-Iranian relations, Poland appeals to stop the use of force against protesters and to start dialogue” – wrote the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
