Poland’s National Awakening leader Nawrocki spoke with Prime Minister Tusk about Trump’s Peace Council initiative, requiring government approval.
Nawrocki Receives Peace Council Invitation
On Monday, Przydacz conveyed that Karol Nawrocki had received an invitation from President Donald Trump to participate in the Peace Council works. The invitation letter is expected to be discussed with the American side in the near future.
On Tuesday in Davos, a presidential minister confirmed that Nawrocki had contacted Prime Minister Tusk regarding this invitation. “The president called the prime minister to discuss the initiative proposed by the Americans,” he stated.
Cool Headed Approach Needed
According to Przydacz, the Peace Council matter should be approached with a “cool head” and with full responsibility for Poland’s security. The president wants to cooperate with the government in this area.
“I do not have the authority to speak about the details of this conversation. What is important is that these consultations between the president, the presidential chancellery, and the government side are being carried out,” Przydacz emphasized.
Government Requires Legal Approval
Przydacz appealed to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski to accelerate work on the opinion regarding the American initiative. Government spokesman Adam Szłapka stated that the Council of Ministers heard information about President Trump’s proposals.
Szłapka emphasized Article 89 of the constitution, which states that “every participation of Poland in any international organization or international agreement requires the consent of the Council of Ministers.” He noted that a thorough analysis would be required for such approval.
Peace Council Details
The Peace Council is intended to oversee the administration of the Gaza Strip and was extended invitations to several dozen countries, including Poland, Israel, Russia, and Belarus. The “entry fee” for the organization is reportedly one billion dollars.
