TVP disputes President Nawrocki’s claims, stating he rejected interview invitations while criticizing the broadcaster’s coverage.
TVP: President Rejected Invitations to Talks
Polish Television states that the president’s accusations are not confirmed by facts. Since Karol Nawrocki’s inauguration, TVP has been broadcasting his speeches and decrees in accordance with its public mission. The broadcaster sent several invitations in 2025 for the president to appear on information and public programs, including “Question of the Day,” offering various dates and flexible timing. Some invitations went unanswered, while the President’s Office refused others, citing the head of state’s tight schedule.
The public broadcaster notes that TVP journalists were sometimes excluded from events with the president, despite other media being present.
When Could the President Have Come to TVP?
On July 21, 2025, TVP Info invited the president to “Question of the Day,” suggesting August 6 or 7. Another invitation was sent for Poland’s independence anniversary celebrations. A third invitation was issued on December 16, 2025, ahead of Ukrainian President Zelensky’s visit to Poland. All invitations offered flexibility regarding timing.
Davos Conference Was Broadcast Live
Polish Television emphasizes that it broadcast the president’s critical press conference from Davos live on TVP Info. The broadcaster also noted that representatives from the President’s Office regularly appear on public programs, including the Sunday show “Woronicza 17.”
President’s Words to TVP Reporter
At the end of the Davos conference, President Nawrocki addressed the TVP Info reporter present, suggesting his remarks might not be aired or would be reduced to insignificant details. He stated, “I will express my sadness, because probably you won’t run it anyway on Polish Television. I’m glad you are here, you’re smiling at me nicely, but on public television you will probably say that I had an untied shoelace or something like that.”
