A dramatic rescue unfolded Friday evening on Jerusalem Alleys in Warsaw’s city center. An 18-year-old woman on bus line 517 suddenly collapsed, experiencing cardiac and respiratory arrest.

Bus driver Andrzej and fellow passengers immediately began assisting the young woman.

Immediate Action and Resuscitation

Witnesses reported the 18-year-old stopped breathing and her heart stopped. The bus driver immediately halted the route and initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), continuing until the arrival of medical personnel.

Witnesses praised the driver’s calm and professional demeanor, noting he instructed bystanders on how to effectively assist.

Critical Condition and Hospitalization

Paramedics continued resuscitation efforts upon arrival and successfully restored the woman’s heartbeat. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors continue to fight for her life.

Uniters Foundation Commends Driver

The Uniters Foundation, near where the incident occurred, stated, “Today, near the entrance to the Uniters Foundation, a few meters before the stop, bus line 517 stopped, disregarding traffic. Inside, a young girl lost consciousness, her heart stopped, and the driver rushed to help.”

They further praised his professionalism and calm during the emergency, noting it was his first time performing CPR. They identified the driver as Andrzej and urged the MZA to recognize his exceptional service.
