Jarosław Kaczyński, Przemysław Czarnek, and Mateusz Morawiecki presented a united front, addressing internal conflicts and detailing plans for economic restructuring and increased defense spending in Poland.
PiS Conference Focuses on Economy and Finance
On Saturday, April 25th, Law and Justice (PiS) held a conference on the economy and finance, titled “Thinking Poland: Alternative 2.0.” Similar conventions were previously held in 2025, 2019, and 2015, serving as platforms to prepare PiS’s program ahead of parliamentary elections.
Kaczyński Calls for “Decent Language” and a Change in Power
Jarosław Kaczyński emphasized the need for a “good and strong state” that fosters loyalty, rooted in national pride. He stated that a “change in power” is necessary to prevent paralysis and enable economic development through “restructuring of the system.”
Kaczyński also called for the removal of individuals from the political class who disregard basic rules, starting with “decent language.”
Prioritizing Modern Skills and Sovereignty
Kaczyński highlighted the importance of acquiring skills in modern fields like artificial intelligence to ensure Poland’s economic future. He also advocated for educational reforms to strengthen national identity and a revival of the “awakening capital” program within private enterprises and state-owned companies.
He stressed the need to establish “informational sovereignty” through the development of cloud computing and platforms, addressing Poland’s current dependence on external factors.
Czarnek Emphasizes Investment in Polish Citizens
PiS’s prime ministerial candidate, Przemysław Czarnek, asserted that investment decisions must prioritize the well-being of Polish citizens, aligning with the principles of the social market economy enshrined in the constitution.
Czarnek underscored the importance of revisiting the “three pillars” of the Polish constitution – economic freedom, private property, and public entities – in a modified and effective manner.
He affirmed that public entities should only engage in economic activity where it is “strategically necessary,” citing areas like water supply, sewage, public transport, and the arms industry.
Morawiecki Advocates for Increased Defense Spending
Mateusz Morawiecki emphasized the need to rebuild the economy by increasing budget allocations for the Polish defense industry and accelerating regulatory processes, including the utilization of dual-use goods.
He warned that failure to invest in Polish capabilities would hinder development and prevent Poland from catching up with more advanced nations.
Morawiecki estimated that Poland could invest approximately 2 trillion złoty in defense over the next 10 years, focusing on engaging the Polish private arms industry, aiming for 85% domestic spending.
He highlighted the significance of dual-use goods, including artificial intelligence, satellite technology, drone production, and navigation systems.
Morawiecki also stressed the importance of accelerating decision-making and regulatory processes, particularly in high-tech sectors, through measures like silent consent rules and prioritizing domestic content in public procurement.
Internal Dispute Resolved: “Two Lungs” for PiS
Following the establishment of the Development Plus Association by Morawiecki, which attracted dozens of PiS parliamentarians, Kaczyński initially stated that those involved would not be included on PiS electoral lists.
After a seven-hour meeting between Kaczyński, Morawiecki, and Adam Bielan, a compromise was reached, allowing the association to operate “within the party.” A plan was proposed to establish an Expert Council incorporating members of the association.
Kaczyński announced that the party would now operate with “two lungs,” aiming to appeal to both the electorate of the Confederation and Korona Polska Confederation, as well as those seeking effective governance and stability.
