Meteorologists have warned of intense storms and heavy rainfall across Poland today, with high winds and hail expected to impact the eastern, southern, and central regions of the country.
Unstable Weather Patterns
Heavy rainfall has persisted across Poland since Friday night due to a low-pressure system stationed over the country. While precipitation is concentrated in the west, rain is also affecting northern and central regions, alongside significant temperature disparities ranging from 8–10°C in the west to 20°C in the east.
Storm Risks and High Winds
A warm air mass currently over the east and center will be displaced by the low-pressure system, triggering storms from Lesser Poland to Mazovia. Numerical models indicate conditions ripe for severe weather, with wind gusts expected to reach 80–90 km/h, and potentially 100 km/h in isolated cases.
Severe Phenomena and Warnings
The forecast includes multicellular storms featuring bow echoes, hail reaching 2–4 cm in diameter, and a marginal risk of tornadoes. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued Level 1 storm warnings for most of eastern, southern, and central Poland, excluding Podlaskie Voivodeship.
