On May 12, 2026, the Internal Security Agency arrested three Polish citizens for conducting intelligence activities, preparing acts of sabotage, and disseminating propaganda on behalf of the Russian Federation.
Arrests and Prosecution
On May 12, 2026, officers from the Internal Security Agency (ABW) arrested three Polish citizens. The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Podlaskie Local Division of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Białystok.
The prosecutor charged the individuals with acting on behalf of a foreign intelligence service by providing information that could harm the Republic of Poland. They also face charges related to the production and dissemination of disinformation, preparing for sabotage and diversionary activities, promoting symbols of Russian aggression against Ukraine, and publicly endorsing the war.
Intelligence and Sabotage Operations
Evidence gathered during the investigation indicates that the suspects were actively raising funds to purchase equipment for Russian military forces and provided propaganda support for the invasion of Ukraine. Acting on behalf of a Russian citizen linked to the Federal Security Service (FSB), the suspects conducted reconnaissance on the deployment of NATO troops stationed in Poland.
The group members were reportedly prepared for future sabotage and diversionary tasks through combat training, which included small arms proficiency and battlefield tactics.
Judicial Proceedings
Following a request from the prosecutor’s office, the District Court in Białystok has ordered the three suspects to be held in temporary detention for a period of three months.
