Body Found in Advanced State of Decomposition in Warsaw’s Vistula River

A man’s body in an advanced state of decomposition was recovered from the Vistula River in Warsaw’s Bielany district on September 16, around 9 PM.

Recovery of the Body

On Tuesday, September 16, around 9 PM, emergency services were alerted to a body floating in the Vistula River near a sandpit in Warsaw’s Bielany district.

The fire brigade and police were dispatched to the scene. The body, in a significantly decomposed state, was retrieved from the water and brought to the shore, where further procedures were carried out by police officers under the supervision of a prosecutor.

Investigation and Identification

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, DNA samples were taken for analysis and comparison with data from a person reported missing in recent weeks.

The identity of the man has not been confirmed yet, and authorities are awaiting the results of the DNA tests.

Prosecutor’s Investigation

The case is being handled by the prosecutor’s office, which is determining the causes and circumstances under which the person ended up in the water.
