Bożena Borowiec has officially taken the parliamentary oath of office, filling the seat left vacant following the tragic death of MP Łukasz Litewka earlier this year.
The Parliamentary Oath
Bożena Borowiec officially accepted the parliamentary mandate after reciting the oath of office in the chamber. The ceremony was confirmed by the Marshal, receiving acknowledgment from the gathered deputies.
Succession Following Tragic Accident
Borowiec assumes the seat previously held by Łukasz Litewka, who died on April 23 following a collision in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Police reports indicate that a 57-year-old driver crossed into the opposing lane and struck Litewka, who was riding a bicycle.
Rafał Adamczyk Declines Mandate
Under electoral law, the mandate first fell to Rafał Adamczyk, a councilor of the Silesian Voivodeship who received 5,900 votes. However, Adamczyk declined the position, stating that he intends to honor his commitment to local government work.
Background of the New MP
Bożena Borowiec, who secured 4,937 votes in the previous election, was next in line to inherit the mandate. Prior to this appointment, she served as the deputy president of the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons.
