Catalytic Converter Theft: Couple Arrested in Warsaw

Warsaw police detained a man and woman on Jerusalem Alleys after discovering they were attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle.

Police Intervene, Discover False Claim

Ochota district patrol officers arrested a couple who initially claimed they were trying to move a malfunctioning vehicle. The claim quickly proved false upon investigation.

The vehicle was found to be in working order and did not belong to either the man or the woman.

Suspects Attempt to Deceive Officers

Police noticed the man was stressed and decided to investigate further. He initially stated he was helping a female acquaintance move her car.

Woman Acted as Lookout, Possessed False ID

Investigators determined the woman was not the vehicle’s owner and was acting as a lookout. She also possessed an ID card belonging to another individual.

Both individuals were detained and placed in pre-trial detention.

Charges Filed in Catalytic Converter Theft

The 39-year-old man was charged with theft under Article 278§1 of the Penal Code, while the 38-year-old woman faces charges of aiding and abetting under Article 18§3 of the Penal Code and possession of a false identity document under Article 275§1 of the Penal Code.

Investigation Ongoing

The case is being supervised by the Warsaw Ochota District Prosecutor’s Office.
