Court Upholds Life Sentence

The appellate court in Warsaw has kept the life sentence in force for Dorian S., who was found guilty of murder and rape of 25‑year‑old Liza. The verdict was declared final and the sentence became irrevocable.

Defense Attempts

Defense lawyers presented creative arguments but did not alter the overall picture. The procedural process was deemed correct and the legal assessment accurate, according to Judge Maciej Gruszczyński. The appeal trial proceeded with limited openness.

Judge Gruszczyński addressed the defense’s claim of procedural irregularities, rejecting allegations that a judge had unlawfully participated in the composition of the juzgating panel. He also dismissed doubts about expert reports, noting that forensic analysis found no signs of intoxication or impairment.

Details of the Crime

The murder took place in February 2023 at the entrance of a townhouse on Żurawiej Street in central Warsaw. At the time, 23‑year‑old Dorian S., wearing a tracksuit, attacked Liza from behind, strangled her, dragged her to a nearby gate, and tied her neck with a strap. He then raped her. The building guard discovered the unconscious victim and she was taken to hospital in critical condition. Liza died on March 1 after never regaining consciousness.
