Firefighters have contained a massive blaze at a warehouse on Rembielińskiego Street in Płock, following the evacuation of nearby residents and workers as smoke blanketed the city until nightfall.
Containment of the Warehouse Blaze
The fire at the 80-by-100-meter service and storage hall on Rembielińskiego Street has been brought under control, according to the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Warsaw. The blaze, which was visible across the city until dusk on Monday, is no longer spreading.
The facility is located in close proximity to other buildings, a gas station, and a residential block. Authorities have not yet confirmed the contents of the warehouse, and there have been no reports of casualties.
Evacuations and Safety Measures
Six people were evacuated from the building immediately after the fire broke out, including workers and patrons from a nearby restaurant. Additionally, dozens of residents from a neighboring apartment block were forced to leave their homes.
The Płock City Hall Crisis Management Department issued an SMS alert advising residents in the Wielka Płyta and Śródmieście districts to keep their windows closed due to the smoke.
Recent Fire Activity in the Masovian Voivodeship
This incident follows a series of recent fires in the region. A massive forest fire erupted in Międzylesie, Wołomin County, on May 28, covering approximately 300 hectares and requiring a massive mobilization of 1,300 firefighters, 120 soldiers, and aerial support to extinguish.
On Sunday, May 31, firefighters in Sokołów County also responded to two separate forest fires in Nowa Wies Kosowska and the vicinity of Ceranów and Noski, both of which were brought under control relatively quickly.
