Fire Destroys Volunteer Firefighter’s Home, Aid Effort Launched

A fire in Izdebno Kościelne, Poland, destroyed the home of Grzegorz, a volunteer firefighter, prompting a community fundraising drive.

Fire Damages Home and Farm Buildings

A fire broke out on Saturday in Izdebno Kościelne, Grodzisk County, engulfing buildings on a property. A structure measuring 10×5 meters was completely destroyed.

The blaze resulted in the destruction of a barn, and the house is now uninhabitable, lacking essential amenities such as a kitchen, bathroom, and electricity.

Family Facing Hardship

Grzegorz, the homeowner and a member of the OSP Izdebno Kościelne volunteer fire department, lives with his brother and a sister with disabilities. He suffered a stroke last year and has ongoing health issues.

The fire has left the family without essential belongings and tools used for farm work and assisting other residents.

Community Rallies with Fundraising Campaign

Friends and acquaintances have initiated an online fundraising campaign, “Help for Grzesiek,” aiming to collect 20,000 Polish złoty. As of review, 7,235 złoty has been raised by 92 donors.

The funds will be used to renovate the home, purchase necessities, and rebuild the destroyed barn.

Immediate Needs Identified

The most urgent needs include cleaning supplies and repair/construction materials. Organizers emphasize the importance of providing dignified living conditions for the family.

Adriana Wojciechowska is leading the fundraising effort, highlighting Grzegorz’s years of service as a volunteer firefighter and his current need for support.

Investigation Ongoing

The cause and circumstances of the fire are under investigation. The damage is significant, and the family will struggle to rebuild and return to normal life without external assistance.
