Government softens labor inspectorate reform. Inspections without retroactive effects and immediate enforcement

The Polish government modifies its State Labour Inspectorate reform, removing immediate employment form changes after employer concerns.

Reform Modifications

The most important change – compared to the original assumptions of the project – is the abandonment of the model in which an inspector’s assessment could immediately change the form of employment, according to information from DGP.

Employer Concerns Addressed

In the first version of the reform, officials were to gain powers to issue administrative decisions of immediate enforceability, which met with resistance from employers fearing bureaucratic arbitrariness.
