Polish and Bulgarian nationals were arrested in Warsaw and Mińsk Mazowiecki for involvement in human trafficking, prostitution, and robbery.
Criminal Group Under Investigation
Warsaw Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Division had been investigating an organized crime group involved in human trafficking, pimping, robbery, and extortion.
Investigators determined the group primarily consisted of Bulgarian citizens who made crime a consistent source of income, investing proceeds in properties in Bulgaria.
Modus Operandi: Forced Prostitution
The group recruited Bulgarian women for agricultural work in Poland, then confiscated their passports and forced them into prostitution.
The group operated in Koszalin between 2019 and 2022, committing similar crimes.
Joint Operation and Arrests
A joint operation involving Warsaw Metropolitan Police, the Criminal Division of the Capital Police Headquarters, the “BOA” Central Counter-Terrorist Unit, and the Capital Police Headquarters’ Independent Counter-Terrorist Unit led to the arrest of nine individuals in Mińsk Mazowiecki, including two Polish citizens.
All those arrested were taken to the Warsaw Metropolitan Police Headquarters for questioning.
Charges and Detention Orders
Eight suspects face charges of participation in an organized crime group involved in human trafficking and forcing prostitution, as well as robbery, extortion, and drug dealing.
A court ordered six Bulgarian citizens to be held in temporary arrest for three months, a 36-year-old Polish woman for two months, while a 29-year-old Polish man and another Bulgarian citizen were released after questioning.
