Hungary: Magyar Announces Initial Cabinet Lineup

Following elections, Hungarian Prime Minister-designate Peter Magyar announced seven ministerial appointments on Monday, outlining a 16-ministry government.

Hungarian Prime Minister-designate Peter Magyar revealed the names of seven ministers for his future government during a press conference on Monday. He stated the cabinet will comprise 16 ministries.

Key Ministerial Positions

Anita Orban will lead Hungarian diplomacy as Foreign Minister. Andras Karman is appointed Minister of Finance. Istvan Kapitany will head the Ministry of Economy and Energy, and Romulus Rusin-Szendi will serve as Minister of National Defence.

Ongoing Government Formation & Inauguration Timeline

Magyar noted that discussions regarding government formation are ongoing and he expects to announce all new ministers this week. The April 12th election winner added that, barring any surprises from President Tamas Sulyok, the inaugural session of the National Assembly could take place around May 9-10.
