Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned U.S. strikes on coastal radar installations in Goruk and Qeshm Island on Saturday, labeling the military action as a hostile provocation that violates the ongoing ceasefire.
Escalation and Military Strikes
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Washington bears full responsibility for the consequences of the ceasefire violation. Officials emphasized that the repeated U.S. attacks demonstrate a clear lack of interest in de-escalating regional tensions.
Ballistic Missile Activity and Naval Clashes
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that Iran launched seven ballistic missiles toward Kuwait and Bahrain on Friday night, six of which were intercepted. Prior to this, U.S. forces shot down four Iranian drones targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz before striking radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island.
While the Mehr news agency suggested Iranian forces fired warning shots near the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM denied reports of damage to the U.S. 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain, confirming there were no casualties among U.S. personnel.
The Impasse of the Ceasefire
The conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran began on February 28, with a formal ceasefire in place since April 8. Negotiations regarding an end to the war remain at a stalemate, despite President Donald Trump’s deadline for Tehran to present a new proposal.
On Saturday, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi traveled to Iran to meet with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, as Pakistan assumes a mediation role in the ongoing conflict.
