The funeral of Polish MP Łukasz Litewka will be held Wednesday in Sosnowiec, with the family requesting donations to charity in lieu of floral tributes.
Funeral Ceremony Details
The funeral ceremonies will begin at 1:30 PM at the Roman Catholic parish of St. Joachim in Sosnowiec, located at 46 ks. Jerzy Popiełuszko Street. The mass will be presided over by Bishop Artur Ważny of Sosnowiec. Following the church service, a funeral procession will proceed to the Parish Cemetery on Zuzanny Street in Sosnowiec.
Media Restrictions and Broadcast
In accordance with the family’s wishes, both the church and cemetery ceremonies will be closed to media. The church ceremony will be limited to invited guests and those who have previously registered. The Sejm Chancellery has requested respect for this decision.

Television Poland will handle the broadcast, making the signal freely available to all interested newsrooms. A large screen will be set up outside the church for those who wish to attend but cannot enter.
Family’s Appeal: Acts of Kindness
The family of the late MP has requested that, instead of flowers or wreaths, people perform “any act of kindness.” They stated that he would prefer continued support for his causes, such as helping those in need, donating to medical fundraisers, or supporting local shelters and aid organizations.
Traffic Organization in Sosnowiec
The Sosnowiec City Police Headquarters has announced that traffic disruptions are expected in the city between 9 AM and 5 PM due to the funeral ceremonies. Popiełuszki Street, Dworska Street (from the entrance to Szpitalna Street), Zuzanny Street (from the intersection with Jędryczki Street to Popiełuszki Street), the entrance from DK94 to Zuzanny Street, and the exit from DK94 to 3 Maja Street will be closed.
Public transportation will also be affected. Bus line 188 will operate on a detour route between 8 AM and 8 PM, and some stops near the ceremony will be temporarily closed.
Parking and Shuttle Service
Individuals arriving by car are asked to park at ArcelorMittal Park – ZPS Sosnowiec (Plac Zagłębia 1) and on parking lots on 3 Maja Street (near Górka Środulska). The city has also organized a free shuttle bus service to the ceremony, running every 15 minutes from 11:30 AM, along the route Sosnowiec Arcelor Mittal Park – Zagórze Technikum, marked “Kościół” (Church).
Presidential Participation
President of Poland Karol Nawrocki and his wife, Marta Nawrocka, will attend the funeral of MP Łukasz Litewka, according to Rafał Leśkiewicz, the President’s spokesperson. They will be accompanied by Mateusz Kotecki, Undersecretary of State in the President’s Chancellery.
Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty previously announced that the Prime Minister is also expected to attend, though this has not yet been confirmed.
Parliamentary Attendance and Schedule Change
Parliamentarians will also attend the funeral. To facilitate their participation, the Marshal has decided to postpone all votes scheduled for Wednesday to Tuesday, April 28th. The Sejm Chancellery will also organize a bus for MPs who wish to travel to Sosnowiec.
