Hundreds of officers, volunteers, and emergency services are scouring the Las Wolski area and surrounding districts for 12-year-old Elżbieta Wojtacka, who has been missing since Thursday.
Large-Scale Search Operations
Hundreds of police officers, firefighters, Territorial Defense Forces personnel, and volunteers are conducting an extensive search operation. Authorities describe the effort as a grassroots mobilization to locate the missing girl.
Security footage shows Elżbieta disembarking from a bus near the zoological garden in Las Wolski on Thursday. Police have released images from bus and store cameras to aid the public in identifying her.
Tactical Deployment and Investigation
Search teams are deploying drones, quads, and specialist tracking dogs across the massive forested area and expanding into Kraków and the surrounding district. Officials have confirmed that a helicopter is being prepared for aerial support.
Operational teams are systematically clearing abandoned buildings, as investigators believe the girl may have sought shelter in a vacant structure. Police are also reviewing private surveillance footage from nearby properties.
Public Appeals and False Leads
While the department has received dozens of tips since the girl’s photograph and description were released, all sightings checked by officers thus far have proven to be other individuals. Authorities continue to interview family and friends to establish the circumstances of her disappearance.
Elżbieta Wojtacka is 161 cm tall with long blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, knee-length jeans, and black-and-white shoes; she may be carrying a black bag with colorful pins. Anyone with information is urged to contact the IV Police Precinct in Kraków or the 112 emergency number.
