The accident occurred after 1:00 PM on Kazimierzowska Street in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
Driver’s Statements Under Scrutiny
The detained man spent a significant portion of the day undergoing medical examinations. Doctors found no circumstances preventing his participation in the proceedings or criminal responsibility, prosecutor Bartosz Kilian stated Friday before 5:00 PM, adding the suspect’s overall health is good.
Further analysis is necessary. Toxicology tests were conducted Thursday to determine if the man had taken any psychoactive substances, with initial results negative.
Investigation Ongoing, Arrest Warrant Considered
The suspect’s interrogation was suspended while he reviews case materials with his lawyer. The prosecutor is leaning towards requesting a temporary arrest warrant.
Charges Filed, Suspect Admits Involvement
The 57-year-old faces charges of causing a fatal traffic accident and has admitted to the act, providing extensive explanations regarding the incident. However, the prosecutor noted that some of his statements raise doubts.
The prosecutor stated the suspect’s account fluctuates between loss of consciousness, momentary distraction, or complete amnesia, suggesting the statements may be a defense strategy.

Łukasz Litewka was born on May 9, 1989, in Sosnowiec. He graduated from the University of Silesia with a degree in sociology.
He began his political career in 2014, being elected as a councilor in Sosnowiec on the electoral lists of the SLD Lewica Razem coalition, and was re-elected in 2018.
Parliamentary Career and Electoral Success
In 2019, he unsuccessfully ran for a parliamentary seat in district no. 32 (Katowice, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Sosnowiec) on the Social Democratic Alliance list. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, he secured a seat in the Sejm from the last position on The Left’s list, unexpectedly taking first place, surpassing even the party chairman, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, with approximately 40,000 votes – almost twice as many as Czarzasty.
Charitable and Social Activities
Litewka was known for his charitable and social work. His #TeamLitewka initiative publicized and supported the treatment of children and animal rescue through social media, responding to difficult situations in the local community by raising funds for rehabilitation equipment and assistance for accident victims.
He also conceived and initiated the nationwide “Zwierzogranie” (Animal Jam) campaign, implemented by his #teamLitewka Foundation in collaboration with the Sosnowiec local government, dedicated to supporting animal shelters and combating homelessness.
