New Details Emerge on Zbigniew Ziobro’s Flight to the USA

Reports indicate that former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro and his son traveled from Milan to Newark, while his wife, Patrycja Kotecka-Ziobro, flew from Venice to Philadelphia earlier in May.

The Journey to the United States

According to RadioZET.pl, Zbigniew Ziobro and his son Jerzy departed from Milan-Malpensa Airport for Newark, New Jersey. The United Airlines Boeing 777-222(ER) flight was delayed by over two hours, departing Italy at 11:56 AM and landing at Newark-Liberty Airport after nearly eight hours of travel.

Polish authorities were reportedly notified by Italian officials of Ziobro’s flight on Friday, May 15. When requested to comment on these findings, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General, Anna Adamiak, stated that the office does not provide detailed information regarding ongoing investigations or actions.

Travels of Patrycja Kotecka-Ziobro

Patrycja Kotecka-Ziobro also traveled to the United States. Her flight departed from Venice on May 12 at 12:18 PM and landed in Philadelphia over eight hours later. Reports suggest she may leave the U.S. soon, as she has already purchased a return ticket from Philadelphia to Venice for June 1.

Legal Allegations and Political Status

Investigators currently suspect Ziobro of committing 26 offenses, including leading an organized criminal group during his tenure as Justice Minister under the Law and Justice (PiS) government. In 2025, the Sejm approved his detention, and prosecutors issued an order to present charges related to the Justice Fund scandal.

Previously, Ziobro and his former deputy, Marcin Romanowski, had received political asylum in Hungary. On May 10, Ziobro confirmed he had left Hungary for the United States, stating in a television interview that he intends to remain in the U.S. to enjoy American freedoms and observe events in Poland. He did not disclose the current whereabouts of Romanowski.
