New Reimbursement List Effective July 1st Adds 25 Therapies

Starting July 1st, Poland’s public reimbursement list will include 25 new therapies, featuring ten oncology treatments, including new options for lung cancer patients, as announced by the Ministry of Health.

Expansion of Reimbursement Coverage

On Thursday, Deputy Minister of Health Katarzyna Kacperczyk announced that the reimbursement list will be expanded to include 25 new therapies. This includes 10 treatments for oncology patients and 15 for other medical conditions.

The Ministry has also issued 156 decisions to continue funding existing therapies. These updates are based on current epidemiological needs and real-time market data analysis.

Focus on Early Lung Cancer Intervention

Due to a rising incidence of lung cancer, particularly among younger people linked to new tobacco products, the Ministry is adding nivolumab and durvalumab to the reimbursement scheme.

The Ministry is shifting its strategy from merely treating metastases to implementing modern therapies at an earlier stage. Officials emphasize that these reimbursements are intended to prevent complications and support the potential for complete recovery.

Additional Oncology Treatments

The updated list also includes cemiplimab, which is used in the treatment of various cancer types, including specific forms of skin cancer.

The national reimbursement list is updated every three months, covering drugs and therapies partially or fully subsidized by the National Health Fund. The current list, effective since April 1, 2026, includes 16 previous therapies and 243 ongoing funding decisions.
