Parachutist Dies in Leszno Landing Accident

A 39-year-old man died Friday morning after impacting the ground during a commercial parachute jump near Leszno, Poland.

Accident Details

The incident occurred just after 11:00 AM on Friday at the Leszno airfield, during a commercial skydiving operation. The 39-year-old skydiver impacted the ground while landing with an open parachute from an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to the scene. Despite approximately 90 minutes of resuscitation efforts, the man could not be saved. He was a resident of the Wrocław district.

Prosecutor’s Preliminary Findings

According to prosecutor Łukasz Wawrzyniak of the Poznań District Prosecutor’s Office, the skydiver was performing a 180-degree maneuver during the jump. Preliminary investigations suggest he executed the maneuver too close to the ground, resulting in a high-speed impact and fatal injuries.

Investigation Underway

Prosecutors have obtained surveillance footage of the accident and are examining the equipment used by the 39-year-old skydiver.
