Parliamentary Committee Reviews Immunity Request
On Thursday, 6 November, the parliamentary regulatory committee examined a motion to lift the immunity of former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro and approve his detention and arrest.
MPs Praise Ziobro as Statesman and Patriot
MP Janusz Kowalski spoke at the session, saying he came to pay tribute to Ziobro, calling him a statesman and great Polish patriot who fought major bandits and mafiosi. Politeka Izabela Bodnar also commented on MP Śliwka’s speech, describing a feeling that Ziobro was being presented with signs of beatification.
Prosecutor Seeks 26 Charges Against Ziobro
The National Prosecutor’s Office has requested the committee to lift Ziobro’s immunity in order to bring 26 charges against him, including those related to the Justice Fund investigation. Prosecutor Woźniak has collected evidence, while MP Śliwka argued that the suspects are free and that an arrest would pose serious danger to Ziobro’s health. “It would be a death sentence,” he said.
Committee Approves Removal of Immunity
Ultimately, the committee gave a positive opinion on the prosecutor’s request to lift Ziobro’s immunity and authorize his detention, allowing the investigation to proceed.
